Members of the disbanded Special Service Unit (SSU), which operated under the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, raised concerns over the delaying of investigations in the case of the kidnapping of two Indians and their driver.
Through their lawyers, the nine officers now accuse the team leading the investigations, which is attached to the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of police, of delaying the process despite a court order for them to quickly investigate and come out with findings of what transpired.

The two Indians, Mr. Mohammad Zaid Sami Kidwai and Mr. Zulfiqar Ahmad Khan went missing on July 25, 2022, alongside their taxi driver Mr Nicodemus Mwania.
The lawyers asked Inspector General of Police Mr Japhet Koome to ensure that a court order which was issued that their DNA sample is taken is implemented.
Lawyer Danstan Omari, said that they, on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, tried to question why the delay, and they were informed that plans were underway to have them taken to the Government chemist.
“Taking them to the Government chemist can only happen if there is an order from a competent court. If that is not the case then our clients will not be taken there,” said Mr Omari.

He said that Kenyans were really waiting to know what transpired leading to the trio’s death since the matter was of great public interest.
This was echoed by Lawyer Omayio Aranga who is also representing the officers who said that they had made a step to know what had happened when they received the information of the change of plans.
He accused the IAU of planning to delay the whole process saying that they had a hidden agenda and that this would not happen.
