The first child of actor and comedian Tommy Chong, Rae Dawn Chong was born on February 28, 1961, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Her birth mother, Gail Lewis, was of Black Canadian ancestry, while her father is of Chinese and Scots-Irish background. Model and actress Robbi Chong is her sister by Maxine Sneed. Through their father’s second wife, they have a half-sister and three younger half-brothers, one of whom was adopted.
